Hi Steve,

Just to let you know that the
hydraulic problem is solved on the JM-454. The
factory hydraulic fluid was way too thick. I
changed it and burped the system. It runs much
better now.

As promised..............you can
put on your web page if you wish (just remember
me on my next tractor order. Ha!)

I didn't have a heavy duty
trailor to bring the two crates home. One crate
contained the tractor, the other the FEL. I
ended up getting a tilt flat deck tow truck to
pick up the crates. Both fit perfectly on the
deck with room to spare and when we got them
home, we just had the deck tilted and we dragged
them off by chaining them up to another tractor
(a truck would have worked just as well). It
only took two days to assemble the tractor. The
hardest part was putting on the tires as one has
to lift the frame fairly high to get the back
wheels on. I was lucky as I had another tractor
with a forks on the front. I just used strapping
and wrapped them around the axle to lift the
frame and then roll the tires on. It helps when
you have two people doing this. The rest was
fairly easy and straightforward, put the fenders
and rollbar on, mount the 3 pt. system. wire the
rear taillights (they're pre-wired already),
check all fluids. I was surprised that all the
fluids had been topped up by the factory -
except for the antifreeze which I had to add.
The batteries supplied nop come fully sealed so
all you have to do is charge them for a short
while and then you are ready to go (no
electrolyte needed). The clock already had 1 hr.
on it so it appears that the factory already ran
the motor to test it out. For me it started up
on the first try and purred like a kitten. I
installed the FEL on another day which was a bit
tricky too because of the weight involved but I
eventually got it. Only problem I found is that
the factory hydraulic fluid is too thick and
makes the hydraulics work slowly. Changing it to
32 weight Hyd fluid and burping the system did
the trick. And that's all there is to getting
your machine ready for work! I forgot to mention
one thing, since you are the one putting it
together, you get to put the first scratches on
it to. The touch-up paint supplied helps with
those liitle boo-boos that you get to do now and
then.
